Jackson

Will you love me? My name is Jackson, I am about 3 years old, neutered, crate-trained, and all I need is love! Well, maybe a little food, too. You see, I came to LRR a pretty skinny boy with not a whole lot of soft thick fur like labbies should have. I am about 88 pounds, and could gain another 10 easily.

I was allegedly already living in a house, when a woman moved in and found me. She says she kept me for a month, but then decided she really did not want another dog and brought me to the shelter. It is a good thing she did, because I am loving life now. The give-up sheet also said I lived with 3 dogs, some goats, chickens, ducks, horses…sounds like Old McDonalds farm. My foster parents are all giving me lots of good nutritious food, and think I am turning into one gorgeous gentleman. I am a little shy around a camera, so my pictures do not quite do me justice.

I am learning lots of things in my foster homes. Like balls, stuffed toys, and sterile bones - these are all new to me! I am not sure why you keep throwing them across the yard, but I think I am supposed to go and get them. It’s kind of fun! I am also learning that some food is really good, maybe I am so skinny because I am a bit of a picky eater. But, add a little meat and pumpkin to my bowl, and I will down it in an instant. I got to see a lake, too. Wow, walking on a dock was a little scary! I did manage to stick my paw in the water and take a sip. I was a little scared, but also really excited about it!

What I like best, though, is love. I like to nestle my head against your side or in your lap. I love to have my belly rubbed. I will roll over to anyone and show my belly, even the vet at my first visit with LRR. I close my eyes real tight, hoping I won’t wake up from this great dream! I give great kisses, too - from your chin all the way up to the tip of your nose. I am medium-low energy inside the house. I am being treated for lyme disease, so my energy level might increase more as I continue to get better (and as I figure out how to play with all those great toys). But, my foster mom tells me that I am just the absolute sweetest boy, and that will not change.

My second favorite thing is walks. I am really a pretty good boy on the leash, and walk fast but try not to pull. Well, except if I see a squirrel. Those squirrels just need to be chased. I am not too treat motivated, but I do catch on pretty quickly. I remembered after our first walk where my foster mom’s house was!

At bedtime, I know right where my bed is. I go right into my crate, no fuss, when my foster mom goes off to work. I have not counter-surfed or gotten into the trash. I love the car, and settle down nicely for rides. I was a little nervous the first day at doggie daycare, but by the second week, I got nothing but compliments!

So, if you want to help teach a calm, loving boy learn about everything this world has to offer – please send in your application! I am waiting!
