Tucker

Hi, I’m Tucker and since I’m such a friendly guy, I can’t wait to tell you all about myself. First, I’m a 2 year old neutered male, house-broken, crate-trained and up-to-date on all my shots. I’m a strapping, muscular fellow, around 88 lbs.

I came to LRR by way of a shelter where the folks tried to contact my family but received no response. I don’t let stuff get me down too easily, so I happily moved on to some very nice foster homes where I have met lots of other labbies just like me. We get along great and I have so much fun playing chase and tug. I like to chase balls when my foster parents throw them for me, but they’re still trying to teach me to bring it back to them. Every once in a while, I will, and then the make a huge fuss over me. Maybe I should try doing that more often!

I have as much fun inside as I do outside, making it my job to empty the toy basket every night. I’m a pretty strong chewer (just toys and bones, not slippers and furniture, don’t worry) so I particularly enjoy durable toys like nylabones.

While I love playing, I love attention just as much. Now, I know I’m not a lap dog, but I will sit or stand next to my foster mom for as long as she is willing to pet me, rub my ears, etc. She thinks my name is appropriate because of the way I “tuck” my head under her arm while she’s lying on the couch.

Handsome, playful, affectionate, what more could you want in a best friend, right? Well, I’m SMART too - maybe a little too smart for my own good sometimes because I know how to flip the latches on gates. The LRR folks make sure everyone knows this and secures their gates so I stay safe. Aside from that trick that I taught myself, nobody seemed to teach me much before I got here. I’m a little “rough around the edges” right now, but am learning the basics quickly. Sometimes, I will just sit (I know that one REALLY well) in front of my foster mom and look up at her eagerly, waiting for her to tell me what she wants me to do. With some time and some tasty treats, there is no doubt I will be a model of good behavior.

I have lots of affection and loyalty to give and I would love to find a forever home with people who will be patient and continue to teach me things. Doggie siblings would be great, too, just not cats.
