Toby

Happy Lab lovers day- What a great day today is. My name is Toby and I was pulled from a shelter by LRR. I think this is a dream come true. I was a stray and my previous owners did not claim me. Everyone is guessing I am about 1-1.5 years old. I was neutered, given my rabies shot, my distemper, my bordetella and they pulled blood from my leg to test for Heartworm, Lyme, Erlichia. As you can see from my handsome pictures, I am a male black lab and weigh about 70 pounds. I am housebroken and am now crate-trained.

Like I said before, I don’t really have a story, I was picked up by someone while I was out exploring. When they took me to the shelter, the shelter looked me over and found two ticks on the inside of my ear. Everyone is saying this is going to be a bad year for ticks, so make sure you keep an eye on all your four legged friends. Then they lament that ticks can transmit Lyme disease which so many of my LRR buddies seem to have. If you need some more information about Lyme disease, there is more information at http://www.lrr.org/dear-labby/july.html Since, LRR does know that two ticks were found on me, they are going to re-test me in a few weeks to see if the little buggers gave me Lyme. Lyme disease if properly treated is not a problem.

Enough about all that other stuff. Lets talk about me. I love to romp and play in the backyard. I play chase with my foster brother and we just have the best of time. I was a great helper with the lawn work this weekend. My foster mom picked up all the toys in the backyard and put them in a bucket and I pulled every toy out of the bucket. She shook her head at me and asked me why? I needed to test them all out to see if they worked and was pleased with some more than others. We also go on walks and I am fairly easy on a leash. LRR strongly recommends obedience training with any adoption and being a young labbie, that would probably do me good too. When I get in the house, I settle down on the rug with a nice bone and just chew. I would love to find an active family. But I am just happy to be where the people are.

Take a look at me and send in your application so we can enjoy the beautiful days of spring yet to come.

July 1, 2006- LRR re-tested me for Lyme and my test came up negative. Looking forward to hearing from you!
