Cindy

Hi Everyone, My name is Cindy and I have quite a story to tell you. But first, I am a 4.5 year old, chocolate female. I am spayed, housebroken, crate trained, good with dogs, love all the people I meet, I am quiet and very well behaved. Oh, and I am a little girl…I only weigh about 57 lbs.

Now for my story - as it was told by my last owner. I was born to be a breeding dog on a Puppy Mill Farm. I had one litter very early - before I was one year old. Then I didn’t have heat cycles anymore, so I wasn’t making any money for anyone.

Since I wasn’t breeding pups for the puppy mill, I was sold to a farmer. That farmer thought that maybe he could breed me. Well, I still didn’t have any heat cycles…lucky me! So, I still made no money for anyone.

The farmer waited 1.5 years hoping that I would have some pups for him. But I never did. During all of this time, I lived outside on his farm, with little or no care. So he decided to take me to the vet and have me spayed since I was really not worth anything as a breeding dog.

Well, when the vet looked at me she noticed that my eyes were closed up tight and very swollen. She asked the farmer about it. He said that they had always been that way and he wondered why I kept my eyes closed and whined so much. Don’t you think he should have taken me to the vet to find out? Well, he didn’t.

Turns out I have Entropian. That means that the upper and/or lower eye lid grows in towards my eyeball. Mine were pretty bad, they had grown in so far that they were causing me lots of pain and I had to keep my eyes closed all the time. I looked out of tiny little slits in my eyes. It was ugly. The only way to fix this is with surgery.

The farmer was told that it would cost a lot of money, and then with the spay that meant even more. So, he decided it wasn’t worth it and left me at the vets office. YEA!!!

The vet made me feel better. First, the nice people there got the swelling out of my eyes and took the pain away with eye medications. Next they called LRR–they wanted me, I was SO excited! Then at LRR’s request, a special test was done and they learned that I am also positive for Lyme disease, but thats okay too - I am being treated.

The nice Doctor and her staff did surgery on my eyes, both eyes. I had 7 sutures in each of the bottom lids and 5 in each of the tops. Be sure to look at the photos that were taken with my e-collar on..and those are when my eyes started to look good! At first I still couldn’t open them and the pain was almost too much to bear.

Once the surgery was complete, I went to my LRR foster home. I have been given meds everyday for my lyme disease, meds in my eyes, good food, lots of petting, and a great big comfy dog bed.

So, I am loving life now. And I will soon be ready for a new home. If you think that you can live with the way my eyes look and you can love me and hug me…please apply to LRR, I will be waiting. Remember, no one knows if my eyes will be normal looking, so only apply if you don’t mind the way I look.

Oh, one more thing, hugs and cuddles are what I love the most. I also give tiny little sweet kisses to my favorite people.

Don’t I sound great? I could make your home complete.
