Loyal Order of Labradors™

Rules and Regulations

The Loyal Order of Labradors™ (LOL) was established in the Fall of 2003 by Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc. (LRR) to provide assistance to Adopters and their Labrador Retriever Rescue, Inc. dogs aged seven years or older.

Upon approval of membership into the LOL, the adopter will receive a gift of two shirts, a certificate, and LRR will put $100.00 in the adopter’s veterinarian account to encourage regular vet check-ups. Each year by January 31st if the adopter provides LRR a copy of their vet invoice showing that their dog has been seen, LRR we will put an additional $100.00 in their account as their gift for the year!

In addition, LRR has set aside funding for the LOL to provide financial assistance to Adopters whose dogs require any type of major medical treatment. Financial assistance may be provided on a case-by-case basis. Benefits may be discontinued or changed at any time without notice.

The following are a list of Rules and Regulations for membership into the Loyal Order of Labradors™:

  1. The adopter will complete and submit an application for membership to the Loyal Order of Labradors™ for every LRR dog they have that is 7 years of age or older (i.e. two LRR dogs 7 years or older requires two applications) and has been in the household for at least 6 months, a picture of the dog up for consideration, and veterinary information.
  2. After review of application, and after verification of veterinary information, the Adopter may be contacted for additional information or a home visit, if deemed necessary.
  3. If the applicant is found to be in non-compliance with their LRR adoption contract, the adopter MUST work with LRR to re-certify their compliance, and may apply again for membership to the LOL after 1 calendar year.
  4. Request for financial assistance will be submitted in writing from the Adopter with the necessary supporting documentation (diagnosis from Vet and estimated cost), to the LOL Committee for review. Based on the LOL Committees findings, additional information, and/or a second opinion may be requested to help verify diagnosis, course of treatment and cost of proposed procedure.

If you have adopted a lab from LRR, the dog is currently age seven or older, and the dog has been in your household for at least six months, you can apply to have your dog join the Loyal Order of Labradors™ by completing an LOL application. This includes dogs which were age seven or older at the time of adoption.
