Community Outreach

Did you know that LRR does more than rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for unwanted dogs? On this page you can find out more about just some of the things LRR is doing to help dogs throughout our community.

January 2010

LRR donated bags of food to Fairfax County Humane Society for their dog food pantry “Animeals”.

LRR helped a young dog with surgery for a torn cruciate ligament after the dog was adopted from LRR.

On 1/18/10 LRR made a donation for Jake and Nelson at Service Dogs of VA for Nelson’s “take home” kit. A take home kit includes food, treats, toys, first aid supplies, bowl, leash, collar, etc. to help the dog get started in their new home.

LRR Ordered a large batch of Kong Seconds and Premier “thinking toys” for the Washington Humane Society Dog Tags Program. The Dog tags program is expanding to include another tier.

LRR purchased 31 bags of dog food and 10 bags of treats for Foodlink in Anne Arundel County, MD.

February 2010

LRR donated numerous bags of dog food to Loudoun County CARE program that assists families in their time of need to care for their pets.

LRR made a donation of a Petco gift card to the Loudoun County CARE program that assists elderly families caring for their pets.

LRR made a donation of Tuffies toys for the Baltimore Chapter of Pets on Wheels annual walk-a-thon. The toys will be used in a silent auction to support their mission of providing friendly visits from volunteers and their pets to those requiring the support of an institutional setting.

LRR supported a past adopter whose dog was diagnosed with pancreatitis.
