Webster

My name is Webster, I am a 3 yr old, black, neutered male. Everyone says I am a beautiful dog, but a big dog – I weigh just about 100lbs. But even though I am big, I am gentle and well behaved.

Over a year ago, LRR was supposed to spring me from a shelter; instead a man came in and adopted me. He was not a nice man, he took me to his junk yard and made live there, outside, with no shelter and at the end of a chain. He thought that because I was big, I was mean. Well, I fooled him, all I did was bark and wag my tail at everyone that came by. Sometimes, he wouldn’t give me food or water for days and days! After living outside for more than a year and not having any heartworm preventative, LRR found out that I am positive for heartworms. But they said not to worry - I will be treated and I will be fine.

I hated living there in the junk yard and hoped everyday that someone would save me from this. So after more than a year of me living that way, the man decided to turn me back into the shelter since I wasn’t mean. Immediately, LRR was notified and I was on my way to a great place.

My first day with LRR was quite an adventure. I first went to a foster home for one night. They were such nice people, they had 3 other dogs and we played. Then I went to visit all the volunteers at the LRR Christmas Party. Oh what fun that was! I got to play with little children, I was fed some great “table scraps” and everyone loved me, it was as if they all already knew me and they were just happy to see me again!

I love to cuddle, I am great with kids (but my size might scare some really little ones), I am good with other dogs, I am accepting of cats, and I love every person I meet. I love to go on long walks, go swimming and just hang around with my people. But my new family will have to pet me a lot, I like that, it feels really good!

LRR says that after my heartworm treatment is complete I will be ready to go to a new home-probably sometime in March. So if any of you are interested in meeting me, get your application in so you can start the adoption process. I will be patiently waiting for my new family!
