Choco

Hello – my name is Choco and I am a six-year old male Labrador. As you might have guessed, I am a chocolate Lab. My foster mom tells me that I’m as sweet as actual chocolate, but I don’t know because I’ve never tried the candy kind – it’s bad for dogs, you know. I am housebroken, crate trained, neutered, H/W negative and up to date on all of my shots. I weigh 95 pounds, but LRR is helping me lose a few pounds so I get to a nice, healthy weight around 75 pounds.

I was with my first family since I was a puppy and I loved them very much. Unfortunately, they had some very difficult financial and personal times and had to move to a new home where dogs were not allowed. I can’t imagine such a thing – a house is not a home without a dog! Anyway, my family wanted to be sure that I would find a great new home, so they called LRR and here I am.

I’ll admit – I’m a soft-hearted guy and I really miss my first family. The first night I was with my foster mom, I cried because I missed them so much. But by the next morning, I realized that I was safe and sound where I am and that everyone at LRR loves me and is helping me find my new people – so I’ve stopped crying. I’m a pretty laid-back guy. I like to hang out on one of the nice dog beds here and look out the window to watch the comings and goings. I like to chew on marrow bones and antlers too, but I’m not very interested in other dog toys. On one small occassion, I got confused about what I’m allowed to chew, so it’s a good idea if you put away shoes or other things I’m not allowed to chew, so I don’t pick up something that isn’t intended for me. I also LOVE to eat and will taste test all the goodies in the kitchen, so it’s best if you don’t leave things where I can reach them. I’ve lived with other dogs and I like to play with them, but I’m also perfectly happy if I’m the only dog in your house. I heard LRR saying that they had to “cat test” me soon. I don’t know what that means, but I’m going to try my hardest to get an A-plus!

I especially love people and enjoy being petted and getting belly rubs. I am content to be home during the day while you’re out, but I’ll be so excited when you get home, I’ll jump up in the air with all four paws off the ground! Wouldn’t that be a nice greeting for you every day? Once you’re home, we can go for walks together or just hang out and watch television. I can go with the flow…

So what do you think? If you’re looking for a mellow, big-hearted, sweet-as-chocolate fellow, I’m your guy. Send in your application – I’ll be waiting!
